In additional DJ health news, one of Bingo Player’s members, Paul Bäumer, has landed in the hospital, for hitherto undisclosed reasons. This follows the hospitalization of one of the members of W&W, as well as Eric Morillo’s recent self-imposed hiatus, also due to health issues. Looking even earlier into the year, we see Avicii doing some time in the emergency ward, as well. There seems to be a pattern here. Clearly the fact that DJs are now the new rock stars comes with a price, as the superstars of EDM find themselves subject to not only hectic work schedules, but also victim to an increased pressure of a social image to live up to, doused in the familiarities of party culture, such as booze and drugs. Neither may have led to the hospitalization in question, however, and Bingo Player’s management released the following ambiguous statement about the incident on their Facebook page:
We’ve just been informed that Paul was admitted to hospital last night in Holland for an emergency procedure. We spoke to him this morning and although he’s in a stable condition now he isn’t allowed to travel over the coming days. He was so excited about the shows this coming weekend and is devastated that he won’t be able to perform in Chicago, Las Vegas and New York this weekend.
Maarten will be coming to all shows and playing a full Bingo Players set.
We wish Paul the best and a swift recovery – Bingo Players MGMT
